My incoming freshmen are not only transitioning from middle school, but also from not being in a face to face school environment for nearly a year and a half. As all of their education was in front of a computer screen, I want to provide interdisciplinary literature/social studies projects in a more hands on, project-based modality. I would like supplies for tangible project creation for individual & group UDL projects that get them away from the computer screen as much as possible. Potential projects include Of Mice & Men: how did the Great Depression shape our world today?; Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet: how do characters undergo change in the world?; The Hate You Give: how can race & stereotypes influence people's perceptions? Students will incorporate presentation boards, formal presentation skill building, self & peer reflection, and group organization.
