You are in charge of taking care of your little brother who wanted to go outside and ride his bicycle. All of a sudden, you hear a scream! You turn around, and your little brother is on the ground, crying. You rush over to him…what do you do? Learning about basic first-aid is a vital life skill, and is especially important in a health care setting. This project will equip students in this class to not only pursue their aspirations of becoming future health care workers, but will also equip them with knowledge and first-aid skills that will help them to better care for others in our community. This unit on first-aid will begin by equipping students with basic first-aid knowledge, from assessing the individual and their environment, to the different methods that are used to render first-aid. Videos of different scenarios will be created, in order to create a digital video portfolio for each student that demonstrates correct technique when rendering first-aid. Aside from learning an important life skill, this project will also assist students in creating a portfolio that demonstrates their knowledge and skill, which they can refer back to in subsequent years, but can also be shown to future employers.
