Seated work throughout the day is a necessary component to first grade; BUT it doesn't have to be boring or robotic. My students are explorers, adventurous, and high energy. They need constant stimulation and movement throughout their learning experiences. Flexible seating options will allow my student to complete tasks while movement is involved, stimulating whole body learning. Flexible seating will allow my students to have the option to choose their learning environment, giving them more control over their learning needs and leading to higher motivation and engagement. The chairs I have selected for my students are sturdy for my younger learners and at the hight of their desks, and the tables around the classroom for multiple seating arrangement choices. These chairs provide movement and core engagement while students learn. If you've ever had a handful of 7 year olds, you know they are naturally very squirmy and these stools will be a great option for them!
