I started to make the shift towards the Science of Reading after attending many workshops and using it with my kindergarten students. I saw amazing results! Teaching phonemic awareness (the ability to manipulate the sounds in words) using decoding skills, blending, segmenting, adding, deleting and substituting, really began creating more proficient readers in my classroom. Students will have the ability to use these resources on their own in centers as well as small and whole group learning. They are all very interactive and will increase students understanding of the skills they are learning in class. This is why I am asking for these wonderful and helpful materials for my classroom! Every student deserves this foundation to learn how to read and write!
