I am requesting materials that I will use to make STEM bins. These "tinker boxes" are open-ended items that allow students to build, engineer, and explore. We all remember the fun of building with Legos, but not all kids have access to building supplies like that. I want to provide my students with materials that they can use to build the tallest towers, strongest bridges, and longest roads that their brains can imagine. These boxes will serve as an introduction to STEM for my students as well as providing them with hands-on fine motor skill practice. STEM experiences help support kindergartners' problem-solving abilities as well as their imaginations. I will use these materials to create portable centers that students can use independently at their desks or in small groups. We will also be able to use these materials to support our learning in specific content areas. Wouldn't it be fun to practice counting with magnetiles instead of foam counters? We think so! I know these materials will be so loved by my students, and I can't wait to get our learning started.
