In ensemble classes such as orchestra, building relationships and trust amongst students is very important because students need to be able to depend on each other to succeed together. Games like Spikeball and Ultimate Frisbee will allow my students to develop meaningful relationships with each other and bond together in a fun way.
Better music books and equipment will give my students a better chance at success on their instruments. The music books that my classroom currently owns are outdated and in poor condition. Newer books will offer more up-to-date pedagogical practices and songs and activities that will better engage students. Most of the equipment and instruments in my room are also in poor condition and require tools to help maintain them. Tools like needle nose pliers, rubber mallets, and wire cutters are common tools used to address minor instrument repairs.
Lastly, you may be asking "Why boba straws?" The boba straws will be used to help students learn the proper bow hold before practicing on an actual bow. The boba straws are easier to hold at first because they are very light, but will still allow students to learn how to properly place their fingers on a bow.
