A classroom library is a staple to every classroom. As a new teacher in a new state, my classroom library consists solely of well-loved books inherited from generous teachers at my school. Although I love that each of these books have been loved, many are outdated, shedding pages and don’t reflect the needs of my students. With this project, I’ll get to provide not only books that are representative of my students and their communities and cultures, but a library that is an inviting space for students that love reading and those students who still aren’t so sure about it.
