Our student leaders' curiosity rivals that of even the most senior scholars, and their determination to serve our community affirms the power of student voice and choice. In our sixth grade social studies course, "Worldview," many of our students are examining the world and its place in it for the first time. Our student leaders will develop essential questions, community-engaged research projects, and, ultimately, understand how global history is both a part of and affects our communities here on Oʻahu. The materials(Scholastic News and Teachers Pay Teachers gift card) we are asking for will help our students on their global huakaʻi (journey) by developing an inquiry-based curriculum and our classroom library. Your donation will help students access curriculum and reading materials that foster a lifelong curiosity and passion for our planet, its histories, and its futures, all while building critical thinking, reading, and writing skills. With the help of these resources, student leaders will have a chance to nurture their own curiosity while considering the stakes of what it means to be a leader from Hawaiʻi in a diverse and ever-changing world.
