The headphones will serve a 2 fold purpose. They will be utilized in the yearly English Language Learners federally mandated testing as well as being used in the classroom and at home. Use of headphones will allow for individualized learning to take place as each student can view videos best suited to their learning goals without disturbing their peers or families. I will be creating a list of videos from various sources including but not limited to Khan Academy, TED talks, the BBC, and PBS that will highlight life in the world outside our island. Many of my students come from large families with limited housing space so the ability to borrow a headphone to take home and watch videos and do lessons from other subjects will also increase learning and decrease tension in the households.
