My students spent the majority of last school year sitting and learning through a screen. For some, the start of this school year will be the first time they will set foot in a physical classroom in over a year. I would like my students to be excited to come to school by providing them opportunities to learn through hands-on, play-based experiences. I want them to be eager to not only come to school to learn standards-based skills but to be able to play and have fun with their friends. The toys I have chosen for my project will allow my students to problem solve and practice their social skills as they play. The Magna Tiles, Marble Run, Gravity Maze, K'Nex, LEGO, and Roller Coaster, Plus Plus, and Brain Flakes items allow for open-ended play and boost spatial skills. Constructing buildings, structures, and other 3D objects will boost math skills in the future. These toys will allow my students to explore engineering projects, express their creativity, and allow their imaginations to become reality.
