After spending a year and half distance learning I want to have my students do a lot of hands on experiments and projects. Science should be fun, messy, and engaging. Not watching videos and taking notes on lectures. Students will make their own ecosystems in a bottle. They will be collecting data using soil probes, soil nutrient test, water quality test. Students will connect what they learned about ecology with the eco columns to units on photosynthesis and cellular respiration’s by studying the pre-made slides to help students examine on acellular level. Student will then use energy meters to keep track of their own environmental footprint. Learning these lessons will make students more eco-conscious and see how their actions can affect the environment around them. It will also give them hands-on experience in collecting data, creating graphs, reading data, and analyzing data. This experience will help them in future science classes and critical thinking.
