One of the biggest myths my students believe about themselves is that they are not “good at reading”. I want to destroy that myth this year. I want students to be able to not only feel they are good at reading but excel! The average lexile level for 9th grade students is a 1150L. Many of my students are below that level, but more than capable of getting there. In order to help my students get there, I need to provide interesting materials for students to read. I aim to build my classroom library and my student’s reading levels through your donations! Additionally, I need students to have an engaging and inviting classroom experience. Your donations of supplies will further the experience kids have in the classroom by ensuring that all students have equal and high quality experiences. There are sometimes discrepancies in what students can afford and taking the stress out of buying supplies for the kids who cannot afford classroom items is very important to me. Providing high quality supplies helps show students that I care because I am providing a positive classroom experience. Earbuds to help them watch instructional videos independently, notebooks to take notes in, and highlighters to annotate texts with are all very important. Students become more invested in my course and a more positive relationship is created between us when the classroom environment is inclusive and inviting!
