We are avid readers in fourth grade who love exploring and learning through the beauty of BOOKS! Imagine handpicking and opening a crisp, lively book off the shelf of your very own classroom library. Providing students with choice, genuine learning opportunities, and diverse literature is my goal when it comes to encouraging my students to READ! Literature takes us on new adventures and allows us to see ourselves and others through windows and mirrors. It is important that students are given authentic opportunities to learn valuable lessons and gain perspectives from others around them. It is just as important for the literature that students are being exposed to is a reflection of their own backgrounds, experiences, and personalities, too! The text set I have developed will provide opportunity for students to see our classroom family as ONE. It will allow students to learn and grow socially, emotionally, and develop understanding for diverse backgrounds that are both similar and different to their own.
