Students will learn how to make cyanotypes. This historical process does not involve a camera. Through coating paper with pre-made chemicals, students will be able to make a historical process. The sun will expose the paper and objects placed on the paper will block the light to create a one of a kind photographic image. During the washing phase, students can increase the intensity of the blue image by placing it in hydrogen peroxide or lightening the image with baking soda. All work is done in a classroom unlike traditional photo projects.
