Poverty is a pandemic in itself and it is growing rapidly. As a school social worker at a Title 1 School, I served over 1200 family members with food, clothing and miscellaneous items in order to meet their basic needs. I advocated for a shower to be installed so that children, who did not have running water at home, were able to come to school and not worry about their personal hygiene. This pantry/clothing closet will allow me to continue breaking down barriers so that my student can focus on their education. Students should only have to worry about learning when they come to school. This project will allow me to lift some of the burdens they bring to school which are often distractions. Please help me, help them.
