Students in grades kindergarten through second grade are mastering phonological awareness and phonics skills to become a fluent reader. The materials I am asking for would aid in students mastery of the skills as well as give the ability to differentiate to all student's needs. By having a listening center in my classroom, students can learn in a small group setting with their peers on differentiated levels while reinforcing previous skills taught with the teacher. The listening center would provide support for all students and would meet them at their independent reading level. In addition to the products listed I would also be able to use the listening center for my fluent readers by purchasing audio books for students to read together in a literature circle.
