Most of my students are high poverty and 2 - 3 years behind in reading skills. Magazine subscriptions that are high-interest with low readability will help student access the world beyond the rural Alaskan community in which they live. The subscriptions chosen cover language arts, science, and social studies topics. Magazines give the students ownership of their learning because they can read the articles successly. These magazines will be used not only within the classroom but they will be taken home by the students and shared with their family and friends.

About my class
