Using a data binder in the classroom allows students to take ownership of their learning as well as working in their areas in need. I have witnessed how powerful it is when students acquire their own binder to keep track of their progress and reflect on areas in which they need to continue to grow. Providing a binder for each student in which they will use as their own the entire school year and witness their progress for each quarter is incredibly powerful. Students take ownership of their learning and become very knowledgeable on areas they excel versus standards they need to continue to work on throughout the year. Dividers are also incredibly useful for students to acquire privacy during independent practice as well as during assessments. Classroom dividers are incredibly useful and are needed daily.
