It is my goal to be a safe space for students. These items that I have requested will help me turn my office into a more intimate setting, allowing students to feel comfortable enough to be themselves, open up and talk to me. I want my students to know that I support them through all situations and that I want the best for them and their future. Having this project funded would be a great start for that. With the furniture that I have requested, it will make the students less afraid to come and talk to me. The usual desk and chair setup can oftentimes make students feel uncomfortable, or imply that they're in trouble. I want to dispel that ideology, so the setup of my room is super important. The other resources will be used to support the student community in regards to inclusion - whether it's racial, cultural, and sexual preference-related.
