Flexible seating during stations enables students to make the choice that works best for their learning style. During Station time, they choose a location in the classroom that suits them. This also allows my students to recognize what choices do NOT work for them. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential factor in motivating them. I see a tremendous difference in my kids when they are given a choice in their seating. They typically make good choices about where they sit, remain more engaged, and enjoy the work they are doing more compared to when they are just sitting at their tables.
