Flexible seating is all about helping the students find the environment that helps them to learn best. My students have a variety of barriers to learning, including ADHD, ODD, and Autism. These students struggle to sit in a traditional desk and chair during the day and thrive on choice in their environment. Providing students with seating and hand held products that allow them to calm one part of their brain allows the other part of their brain to focus and learn. My students want to learn, they want to feel safe, and they want to develop into good citizens, but need additional assistance to help them overcome their barriers to success. I picked out specific products that will help my students to better focus their minds and engage in the concepts by allowing movement of their bodies. The wobble chairs and wobble cushions will allow the students who need movement to have it while still working on their assignments. In this project, I am also ordering hand held materials, for students who need these products to keep their hands busy.
