All of the fidget toys, pillows, and toys will greatly make a difference in my students' learning. One of the things that we teach our students is how to identify their feelings and manage emotions. By giving them a safe place with materials they have learned about, they can practice managing their strong feelings and emotions. By providing this space, students are given the opportunity to away from others to work through and process their emotions. Although these materials will not be used at home, students can practice using the tools in school and we can then look to provide the same tools at home. By adding a calming corner to my classroom, I will be able to teach my students and meet their social-emotional outcomes. I am sure that every student will be excited to see our new calming area.
