Students tell me that having access to a variety of genres make them more interested in reading. Not only do I hear this from my students, research acknowledges this statement. With over 39 new titles that could be added to the student library, students will be able to make selections from their favorite genres as well as access additional novels that support topics we cover during the year in the reading curriculum. The shelves could be lined with student's most requested genre of science fiction featuring original dystopian fiction from Orwell and Bradbury and even include best sellers like Haddix and Lu. Students can once again enjoy reading in the classroom and at home. Using a quarantine system for my classroom library will alleviate concerns of students and parents. By not only purchasing the books, but additional supplies so that safety protocols can be implemented will provide a refreshed book collection as well as a clean environment for students to enjoy reading.
