Our school is currently working to get our trauma-informed certification. I have spent many hours this summer in training and learning the best way to help students who have experienced trauma in their life. One way I can better serve my students is to have a calm place for them to come when their own lives feel anything but calm. I plan to use lighting, music, fidget toys, books, and comfortable seating to provide this atmosphere for them. In order to learn well, kids need to deal with their anxiety and stress. I want to create a space for them to do just that! I want my students to come to my room and leave feeling like things are going to be okay after all!
