We have an intervention period twice a week for our students prepare for college, prep for ACT tests, and attend club meetings. Our plan is to use the game of chess to enhance our student's critical thinking skills (research suggest that playing chess can build critical thinking skills) during this invention period as both an incentive and challenge (Chess King Tournament). As a current chess player myself, I can truly say that playing chess relaxes me and helped me to anticipate problems and make plan for them. In addition to enhancing student's critical thinking skills, playing chess also increases memory, concentration, and creativity in students. We also plan to compete as a chess team against other schools. By providing our students the opportunity to play chess during their intervention period, I am confident that our ACT and End of Course test will improve tremendously. Thank So Much in Advance for your time and attention to this matter.
