Currently, the equipment in our physical education program is limited and one-dimensional. Because our school is going through a transition from charter to the public, we only have basketballs available, as well as, a few soccer balls and volleyballs that are a bit worn. With the pandemic, we were unable to sell uniforms leaving our budget extremely scarce. I am looking to enhance our variety of equipment to provide my students with a unit-based experience where we explore the history of various sports from around the country such as, but not limited to: pickleball, badminton, bowling, golf, football, etc. I am determined to build a program that gets out of the traditional way of “throwing balls out” for kids to play with and actually teach them about the history, rules, and origination of each sport they play. With your help, I can provide a more innovative way of learning which would increase student engagement and keep our kids active.
