A Scholastic News subscription for each of our second grade students will open their eyes and their siblings' eyes to the whole world around our little urban school. Our students have the curiosity and inquisitiveness. They just need the materials to widen the net they are casting. The magazines would give us all access to new and relevant talking points. It will lead to bigger discussions and better connections to the world outside our classroom. We would have resources for students to engage inninquiry based research and writing. The magazines provide access to current events but at a readability level that lets all our students participate.
