A new classroom carpet will enhance my first graders' learning in so many ways. We spend so much time on the carpet together doing morning meeting, our reading and math lessons, dancing together, playing, and having group conversations. There are 27 of us in our first grade room and we are continuously growing. The carpet we have now is too small! Especially now, I want my students to be able to have their own personal space. This new Magic Carpet will allow them to do so! The big magic carpet is many of the students' favorite place in the classroom! They see it as a comforting place where we gather together as a community. It is also a safe place for them to share how they are feeling and a place where they can ask questions. In first grade, whole group lessons and necessary in order for students to learn. If we do not have a carpet that is big enough for all of us, we are not doing our best learning!
