A majority of the books provided for me in my classroom library are not relatable or relevant to my students' cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Many of my students are turned off by reading because they have yet to find a book they connect too. By donating to my project you will help fill my classroom with culturally relevant titles to instill a love of reading and literacy in my students. Students are able to check out books from my classroom and take them home, and encouraging them to read in and outside of the classroom will greatly impact their literacy skills. Furthermore, these books will help them better connect to the world around them, develop their critical thinking skills, and inspire them to continue reading.
