The use of a carpet is nearly an essential in every activity of the day from morning meeting to read-aloud. The lack of a classroom carpet forces my students to either have to sit on the cold tile floor or stay at their desks for all activities of the day. A classroom carpet would not only be essential for daily activities, but it would also create a cozier, more inviting classroom environment for the students. Having a classroom carpet for carpet time during the school day provides the children with the opportunity to learn to follow routines and rules, learn how to be a kind friend, listen to each others stories, sing and learn in a different way than the traditional desk learning.
