During Covid last year many students were indoors and plugged in. They were itching to go outside. By bringing gardening to the school, our classroom can be out-of-doors. We will learn about the parts of a plant, pollination, plant life cycle, and budding self-reliance skills in growing our own food and taste testing healthy plant snacks. Vermiculite is a light weight mineral that soaks up water that later provides moisture for the soil and plants. In the low deserts of Arizona gardens need lots of water. This mineral mixed with compost and other water saving soils will assist in teaching students to be water conscious while growing fruits and vegetables at school.
