The new materials have truly transformed our classroom routines. Our carpet circles are used every single day—during read-alouds, partner reading, small-group lessons, and even during independent play and exploration. One of my favorite moments so far was watching a group of students naturally gather on their circles to \"play school,\" taking turns reading stories to each other and proudly using the new literacy tools you helped provide. It was a beautiful snapshot of how these resources are helping them grow as readers and as a community.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the carpet circles and materials, they were so excited. Many immediately picked their favorite color and sat down to try them out. They love having their own special spot during lessons, and it has made our story time feel more focused, cozy, and joyful. Even during free choice, I often find students curled up on a circle with a book—just because it feels like the perfect reading spot.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward with our literacy units this year, these resources will continue to support strong reading habits and build classroom community. Students are beginning new routines in partner reading, fluency practice, and comprehension discussions, and the materials you funded are helping them feel comfortable, confident, and eager to learn. Thank you for making our classroom a brighter and more inspiring place for young readers.","fullyFundedDate":1752945895329,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-on-the-carpet-reading-and-comm/9440341/","projectTitle":"Literacy on the Carpet: Reading and Community in First Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McInnes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9508649_orig.jpg?crop=714,714,x817,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750695763872","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9508649"},{"teacherId":9508649,"projectId":9440085,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our project, A Cozy Corner to Reset. The impact on my students has been immediate and meaningful. We use the cozy corner every single day as a calm, safe space where students can re-center, take a breath, and return to learning with renewed focus. One moment that really stood out happened just last week: a student who was feeling overwhelmed quietly walked over to the corner, used one of the sensory tools, and after just a few minutes was ready to rejoin our activity with confidence. It was such a clear reminder of how powerful this space is for our classroom community.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their faces lit up. They were excited to explore the soft pillows, calming visuals, and mindfulness tools. Many of them immediately said things like, \"This feels so cozy!\" and \"I like that we have a safe place.\" The sense of ownership and comfort they feel in this space has been incredible, and it has quickly become one of their favorite parts of our classroom.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our work this year, the cozy corner will play an important role in helping students build emotional awareness, self-regulation skills, and independence. Whether they're taking a moment to reset or using the space to quietly finish work, the corner supports every student—every day. Thank you for giving my class a space where they feel safe, cared for, and ready to learn. It made a tangible impact on the lives of my students, and we are thrilled to share some stories with you.\r\n\r\nOne of our students was particularly excited to use the new magnets with letters on them. He would work very hard to get the letter sounds correctly in order to earn the magnets to be able to build his creation. \r\n\r\nAnother student has a special interest in ocean animals and was thrilled to look at the pictures of sea animals on the books we received while also recognizing the letter name and sound of the animals' names.\r\n\r\nStories like these remind us of the power of your generosity and the difference it makes in the lives of our students.\r\n\r\nWe are grateful not only for your financial support but also for your investment in the future of our students. \r\n\r\nPlease know that your donation is being put to good use, and we are committed to ensuring that it continues to benefit our students for years to come.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your kindness and generosity.
