As students are learning to read it is important they have high quality texts they can read. These decodable books will give my students the opportunity to practice learned reading skills while gaining confidence in their ability to read. Using decodable texts allows me to provide students with reading materials that target their exact reading needs. The Science of Reading shows that students need decodable texts aligned with phonics skills they are learning in class. Providing students with decodable readers will increase their confidence in their reading ability, which will increase their interest in reading.
