Students will be able to learn about history through the novel studies. Additionally, since there are different genres, the students can figure out what books they enjoy. I want them to want to take some of these books home as well to read at their leisure. By learning about ELA and SS through books, it allows the reader to become immersed into the situations which broadens the learning. Even more so, having them be able to take the books home will encourage a love for reading. I want my students to develop a love for reading classic novels which will in turn help them become life long readers in a safe environment. Along with setting up an enriching classroom library, you need to have an environment in the classroom setting that is welcoming to take risks. If the classroom is not inviting or comfortable, a student's success in that class can be slim. By creating an environment that is warm and captures the eyes of students, while giving them the tools to be supported.
