Wow!! I am a newly hired, school based, speech-language pathologist. I have inherited an old classroom from the 60s that has limited therapy materials. I am very excited to begin my career as an SLP, and to create a space that has the materials these kids need to become effective communicators. Everyone deserves a voice; I have a 65+ students with varying levels of need. I am in need of therapy items, sensory activities, and interactive activities for the kiddos on my caseload. With the materials I have requested, the children on my caseload will have the opportunity to develop core and fringe vocabulary, descriptive language, and social pragmatic skills; while engaging in functional and dramatic play activities. During lessons the sensory materials will help the children to remain engaged which will result in the best learning outcomes. The goal of these materials is to provide my students with increased opportunities for successful communication.
