In Ceramics, students learn about the historical background, aesthetic traditions, and artistic properties of ceramics through a variety of studio experiences. The student will acquire knowledge of form, volume, and space relationships by construction using hand-building and throwing forms of clay. Experimentation with line, texture, pattern, theme, and variation. Projects include Polynesian Art: Tiki Mugs, Day of the Dead skulls, Pennsylvania Dutch Relief tiles, Slab boxes and much more! Each project introduces new skills and techniques and art history including 2-3 featured past and contemporary artists to help inspire children to develop their own creations!
