Story boxes for students with visual impairments are essential. Story boxes bring the story to life; they make it meaningful, real and interesting. Story boxes are essential when teaching students with visual impairments, and they are a critical support to students with dual sensory loss. By using real objects that represent pictures in books my students will be able to use their sense of touch to interact and learn about simple concepts. For example, while reading a book about big and small it is imperative that there are hands on materials to show this concept. Students with visual impairments need tactile objects to make a connection between literacy and real life experiences.
