This project is aimed at combatting the achievement gaps associated with generational poverty with high-interest reading choices for students. I have included a half of a class set of a book that I share with students after studying Ancient Greece. I have also included a list of books that my students have expressed interest in reading but don't have ready access to. Many students in low-income schools struggle with language skills and abhor reading because of those struggles. Libraries are not as accessible to these students, leaving them very little opportunity to practice language skills and build reading habits independently. By building up my classroom library, my goal is to provide as many opportunities for growth as possible while instilling a love for reading to help these students overcome their circumstances.
