Students in my class sit in regular chairs throughout the school day, they get antsy and want to move around. I teach English/Language Arts and Social Studies, so my students do a lot of reading. I teach a variety of children that like to wiggle while they work. My students like to move around the room and be comfortable while they read and while they work. I want to enhance their learning by giving them different seating options that gives them a break from the regular chairs with things like portable Surf Desks, stools, stability balls and an ottoman. We do a lot of group work in my class and this type of seating would be great for the students to use while they work with their classmates. I want to create a classroom environment that makes the students feel like they are at home for the few hours that they are in my classroom. I want them to be comfortable, and I want them to be engaged.
