My students have learning disabilities and most have struggled throughout their school careers. They have "learned" that school is hard and not very fun. Some of them have been told that they are" dumb or stupid" and some of them even believe it. They come to me feeling hopeless and ready to give up on learning. I want to empower my students and I want them to learn to love learning. I want to be able to expose them to fun and new materials to help them ignite a love for learning. I feel like I can best do this by making learning fun. I can use games, manipulatives, and interesting books and show them that there are many different ways to learn. I can use socio-emotional resources in order to build up their confidence and learn to express their feelings.
