Money is a very important part of life. Money affects daily mental health both positively and negatively. There have been times when my students and their families are vulnerable in my office, sharing feelings of despair and uncertainty about their future and signalling financial concerns. These are the times, I do my best to think together about alternatives to support the family with basic needs using budgets, community resources and other external supports. With the professional development available, I hope to expand my knowledge and educate my students and their parents to improve their finances and financial literacy. This professional development training will enable me to address my own habits and beliefs in order to prepare and support my clients effectively. It will provide me with evidence-based strategies for improving their economic situation and reducing initial stress and burden.
