I am a first time teacher teaching my first session of ESY, or summer school, ever! I am so excited to have so many fun, exciting, and educational crafts and science projects planned for my students with disabilities. These activities will keep summer school fun for students in between working on curriculum and IEP goal based activities. Being a first year teacher, I am beginning the process of building up my classroom supplies. I want my students to have access to individual and Covid-19 friendly supplies. With these supplies, my students will have the opportunity to create and learn all summer long! For art, students will be creating a summer scrapbook, ocean sensory bottles, paper plate fish, tie dye shirts, a job skills lemonade stand, picture frames, and a nature mural! Science experiments we will complete include growing beans, testing out salt water with different objects, learning how fish breathe, and how to create a chromatographic butterfly. This school year has been really difficult for students, and they deserve the chance to have not only an educational but also enjoyable summer session. I am so thankful for the donors that make it possible!
