My students are great! I spend every moment that I am not with my own wife and two kids with them trying to shape their lives for the better. I even enjoy running with them after school as the Cross Country Coach (pictured above is our boys and girls 2011 team). As you can see they are a diverse group of urban adolescents ! Some are gifted and others have special needs.
This project will involve over 220 of the best and brightest young African American, Latino, Asian and Caucasian students in Southern California. They are fortunate to attend a magnet school, but unfortunate NOT to be attending a school that has Title I funding. Therefore, unlike most impoverished schools in California, our school DOES NOT QUALIFY for EXTRA FUNDING as just over 50% of our student body is not below the poverty level.
The supplies I use as a science teacher are often only those I get donated by parents of the children I teach or purchase with my own money on eBay or local education retail store.
