The "Wildcat Den" is a vision of Grant Wood's PBIS team as a space that allows us to support students in acknowledging and processing big emotions because as educators, administrators and mental health providers, we know that a student will struggle to learn their fractions or grammar if their unmet social-emotional needs are not addressed first. This will be increasingly important as our students and staff regroup after last school year which presented numerous challenges for all throughout. The "Wildcat Den" will be made up of comfortable seating that adapts to students' varying sensory needs such as lower lighting, fidget toys made up of a multitude of textures, seating that promotes movement, calming music, and meditative/mindfulness and grounding exercises. The items in our cart all lend themselves to helping students process their emotions, reset, and feel able to return to learning in their classrooms, ultimately limiting students' time out of the classroom. To turn the Wildcat Den vision into a reality, we need all of the help we can get. Thank you in advance for supporting our Wildcats!
