Because of the research completed by Maria Montessori, Erik Erikson, Jean Piaget, and so many others, we know that without time for unstructured inquiry, imaginative play, and an opportunity for students to develop collaboration skills we are doing our young learners a huge disservice. I am requesting Magnatiles. STEM Challenge kit, magnetic gears and a Chain Reaction STEM Kit. With these Morning Brain Bin activities, my students will start their day with choice, while igniting their creative brains. They will have the opportunity to adjust to our school routines and expectations without the pressure to “perform.” They will find success regardless of academic strength and weakness. And finally, they will connect with one another while showing teamwork, collaboration, and working toward shared goals.
