I'm the school nurse at a wonderful elementary school of students who face many challenges with bravery and determination. Our school is situated in a high poverty area of a historic town known for Thoroughbred Horses. Our students are eager to learn and are overcomers! Students visit the nurse for their physical needs but come just as often to meet emotional needs. My dreamy TeePee center located in our health clinic will provide the student's a calm space to actively learn to manage emotions and re-center. Through books, manipulatives, and a gratitude journal, we will learn techniques to self-soothe and focus so that students can return to their teachers ready to learn and armed with tools they can use to be their best in the classroom.
