Calculators are a tool that students can use to solve problems. Their purpose is to eliminate tedious computations that discourage many students. Calculators allow students to solve problems without room for error, and enable students to appreciate the power and value of mathematics in the world today. Calculators are extremely expensive; they can cost up to $200, depending on the kind you get. Even though this is not the kind I am looking for in my classroom, the fact of the matter is that a lot of families cannot afford the added expense of a calculator, when it is something that their student may not need often. This is why I am asking for a set of 10 calculators for my classroom. This will allow the students who need to use them the ability to do so, without having to worry about remembering to bring it to school every day.
