My project is based on information that will be tested on the Keystone Exams. In this project the students will have the opportunity to transform bacteria and make it glow in the dark. They will take DNA from the firefly and put it into E.coli and then the E. coli will glow. This shows many different concepts in biology. Including transcription, translation and transformation. The students will learn how to cut DNA and put it back together in the bacteria. They will then get to culture the bacteria and see that it can glow in the dark if it took up the firefly gene.
