These supplies will allow my students to complete a diverse variety of art projects. So many people go their entire lives without discovering what their artistic "niche" is. Not every artist is good at drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, etc. I want my students to find where they shine early in life, when they are most creative and passionate about new things. Experiencing new forms of media is so important to artistic development, especially at a young age. I, personally, never tried ceramics or printmaking until I was in high school and college, respectively. I became a teacher to be the art teacher that I never had. I will use these materials to further imaginative play and creativity through artwork. The gelli plates and ink will be used for monoprinting. I will take my students on a tour of the school and we will do found object printing. The clay will be used for each grade to make pottery, from pinch pots to slabs to containers. The paper mache will be used to make sculptures. With these materials, students will be able to do a lot more throughout the year.
