It is so hard to engage students in this day and age with a book! Now, with the pandemic students are using devices and looking at a screen even more now. I have always wanted a flexible seating arrangement for my classroom for years. I have spent my money for a couple years now trying to build up to that but it can be costly. I would love to provide that for my students next year as we go back to in person. The laptops will still be in front of them but if I can encourage my students to to drop everything, get in a cozy spot, and read a book then I hope to foster that love of reading for one more year and hopefully a lifetime. The benefit with flexible seating is that it can encourage my students to read, but also serves as easy to move furniture for my students on the daily during lessons, activities, and stations. I’m committed to my student’s success and I know that “today a reader, tomorrow a leader” still holds true.
